The Massena Foundation was a private family foundation

located in Seattle, Washington, USA. Founded in 1999 with a goal to spend out its assets, the foundation rolled remaining assets into a Donor Advised Fund at Impact Assets and closed its doors in 2014.  This site is for reference.

Mission

Our focus is on the continual process of striving towards our national ideals of equal opportunity and fairness. In 2009 the foundation shifted its focus to economic development from social justice advocacy.

Methodology

Inspired by the Heron Foundation and SoCap, the foundation subscribes to the belief that mission needs to be supported both by the cashflow and by the capital under stewardship, and so has moved to a fully mission-supporting investment strategy.

Geographical Restrictions

For the purpose of low operational overhead we primarily focus on groups in the Puget Sound region.
